Clayton's Baptism

Saturday Clayton was baptized. It was really nice to have so many people there, showing their love for Clayton! He has been excited for such a long time! After everything was all said & done, Clayton asked me if he looked different? I asked him if he felt different? He said that he did. He has been so sweet, letting everybody know what he had just done. Our Bishop gives the kids that are baptized, a journal, & that is almost as exciting as the actual baptism itself! (I wasn't sure he would want to get up in front of everyone, but he did!) & he's so cute!

Redrock Relay

This years family reunion was a crazy one. We decided several months ago that we were going to run the Red Rock Relay as a family and we did! Thursday night we all arrived at the cabin at Brian Head ski resort (thanks to Katie’s brother David and his wife Tiffany) and settled in for the night. Early Friday morning we started getting up and ready for the 186 mile relay which was run by 12 runners: Van 1 (Mom, Marc, Katie, Billy, Heidi, and David) and Van 2 (Joe, Becky, Ryan, Karen, Cory and Mike).

At 7:40 am Mom started up the ski lift to the top of the mountain to begin the race. She did great even after a little fall where she bruised her wrist and tore up some of the soft tissue. After a quick run to the ER (thanks to Dad) to make sure nothing was broken she was back in the van and ready to go. Everyone did a great job running their legs as we ran through the night and into Saturday. All of the runners met at the end so everyone could run across the finish line with Mike while Dad took pictures. It was a really cool experience and I think that everyone felt a huge sense of accomplishment and relief as we crossed that line.

We can’t forget all of the people that made it possible for us to run. Thanks to Tiffany, Holly, Caroline, Jayna, and Dad for taking care of all of the kids and for being so supportive. Holly, Caroline and Jayna really worked hard to keep the kids happy, safe and occupied while Dad was our road side assistant and basically followed us along the whole race providing support (and chocolate milk). A big thanks again from all of the racers.

Saturday night after the race everyone went back to the cabin to spend some time together as family and friends. We ate pizza and snacked on food while we talked about how sore we were and how hard the race was. It was nice to relax and enjoy each others company. I think everyone slept hard Saturday night. Sunday morning Dad, Katie, Caroline, Joe and others made a great breakfast of blueberry pancakes, bacon, eggs and Joe’s super special buttermilk syrup. The kids played while everyone talked and stretched and we even watched a movie (The Blindside). I think everyone was so tired that they didn’t want to pack up and leave. Finally, everyone decided it was time to go home around mid afternoon. Before we left we took a couple of pictures, had a family meeting to get started on next years reunion and then we parted ways.

Thanks to everyone for participating and making this years family reunion happen. We really missed everyone that couldn’t make it and look forward to seeing you next year. It was a unique and challenging reunion, but fun and rewarding too. Good job Everyone!

Locks of Love

Kennedy decided to get her hair cut & donate 11inches, to Locks of Love! She was so excited & not nervous at all! I was surprised how emotional I was about the whole thing! (no worries, there were no tears involved) I was happy that she wanted to give, to someone who could really enjoy her hair! & it was just in time for school, so perfect timing! She was even going to pay for it with her birthday money!We found out, that if you donate your hair, the cut is FREE! Kennedy is very excited with her new look! I like it too, but I think it makes her look older...& that I am not too excited for...

Spring Break! & Kennedy's Birthday....(where have 10 years gone?)

Last week was spring break & we pretty much hung out at home, but that was kind of nice! We too one day & took the kids to downtown SLC to see the sights. (One of Clayton's obsessions is New York City...he is dying to go, so we figured that Salt Lake would be our best bet.)He & Claire loved driving through downtown & staring up at all the huge buildings & guessing how much bigger they must be in NYC!
We drove by where they do the Chanel 2 news, & then headed to the Daughters of Pioneer Museum(?)because they have John Rowe Moyle's wooden leg there, & he is our relative...they thought it was cool. They didn't allow photographs,so bummer. So then we headed over to the Clark Planetarium to see some Imax 3D movies. I took the little ones to "Under the Water" & Bill took the older kids to the "Hubble Space...something" they were amazing!
We went to the JSB for lunch & enjoyed riding trax...it was a fun day!
Then Holy Cow! Kennedy turned 10 years old! She got a cruiser bike & it is so cute! & she went swimming with her friends & we loved having the family over for oatmeal cake! YUM!

time for an update, I guess

I don't know where the time goes! I don't know what I've been doing either...
at our house we having the big countdown to the end of school!(& Easter, & the day off of school on Friday, & the list goes on) My kids love to know "how many sleeps until..."
Connor is still doing very well in school, all "A's" & he is working on his merit badges for scouts. He has earned a lot of his "boring" merit badges already, so he is looking forward to the "fun" ones!
Kennedy is growing up quickly & having some growing pains on the way. It is hard to watch sometimes, when as an Adult these things are so simple, but she will learn.
Clayton is learning how to deal with his anxiety/Asbergers,& so are we. The advice is great for the whole family & we are all learning so much! It's still to raw to talk about with too many people, so we don't, but it is great to learn about how our actions can be a huge impact on others & how to remove ourselves emotionally, & how that can be the best sometimes.
Claire is wanting to play with friends ALL the time, but here's the deal, she will not go to their house ever! & that gets old for me & her friends. & she wants to play with girls that are Clayton's age. We only have one or two girls Claire's age & we never seem to get them together. She is also having fun in Preschool. & we are excited for Kindergarten!!!

911

So last week Claire had my phone & then she disappeared into her room for a while. I didn't think anything about it until the phone started ringing & Claire ran down the hall to me as fast as she could with the phone...so worried & insisting that she didn't know who it was on the phone. I answered & heard "this is the police, someone called 911 from this phone...is everything alright?" I looked at Claire & realized what she had done! I explained to the officer that my 5 year old had the phone & called 911. He must have heard her crying & saying she" will never call 911 again!" I fully expected them to still come out to our house to check stuff out, & I told Claire that if & when they come, she is going to have to tell the police what she did! I think she hid under her blankets for about 1/2 hour, and I had to teach her how 911 is a good thing & we should call it at the right time...like if the house is on fire, or mom tells you to or many other reasons...I think she understands, but today we were driving & she was on her "cell phone" & I overheard her talking in her "mom"voice."um,911? I have an emergency...(sigh)I have too many dishes..." I wish I hadn't started laughing because the conversation stopped! I would have loved to hear where the conversation was going!
